In this month's study group discussions, we talked about how children acquired their first language and the second language. The articles we read pointed out that bilingual children could read in two languages at the same time without any confusion. The ability which allows them to do this is because L1 and L2 are stored in diffrent parts of the brain. Therefore, it is no problem for them to operate the two language separately.
I think it is very interesting to learn the language acquisition processes of children, especially to compare the ways they acquire L1 and L2. More the different learning processes between L1 and L2 we learn, more possible solutions to help EFL students learn English we can come up with. In short, this month's study group discussions are very useful, helpful and successful.
